The Gilwell estate has been in the ownership of the Scout Associatation since 1919 and is now one of the main Scout centres in the UK. Set in amongst 109 acres of Epping forest it combines the best of a countryside location with all the advantages of London. It has had several million spent on it over the last few years to bring the site to a very high standard.
The accommodation
We have 3 lodges reserved for our use; Jack Petchey Lodge, Peter Harrison and Branchet Lodge. Branchet was built in 2003 and Jack Petchey and Peter Harrison were both built last year! The Jack Petchey & Peter Harrison lodges sleeps 50 people in rooms of no more than 4 people and all rooms are en-suite with a shower and toliet. The 2 newer lodges have disabled access. Branchet Lodge sleeps 56 in rooms of no more than 8 people, half are en-suite and the rest have 2 large shower blocks to use.
Please not however that linen is not provided by the site and you will need to bring your own.
Each lodge also has drying rooms, with washing machines and driers. Perfect for leaving your wet and muddy armour in!
Camping
If you wish to camp this is also possible. Please contact the autocrats for full details.
