The SCA has seen over 40 years of learning and scholarship in the creative skills and crafts of the pre-1600AD period. It holds a strong appeal to many who wish to discover new hobbies, or add context to their existing endeavours.
In Thamesreach, we host a rich variety of workshops, crafting afternoons, social gatherings and master craftsmen and women, many of whom are at the top of the field, capable of producing authentic and museum-quality research and production.
Our revels have recently covered such topics as 12th-15th century costume, dances from across the periods, period perfumes, calligraphy, illumination, leather-working and shoemaking, pewter casting, armouring, jewellry and accessories, and of course food!
We have plans for further workshops on such topics as hat and headpiece making and cooking for events.
Below are a selection of recent projects completed by the populace.
