Kick-off is from 10am, we ask for an extra fiver for the morning session towards hire costs, but in return are offering a whole day’s opportunity to fence!

We can cater for complete beginners to masters, artists and clothiers aplenty. So, keep your diaries free and enjoy some great company!

12.30 – site opens
1.30  – embroidery class
3.00 – Master Paul running some dance classes
5.30 – early dinner
7.30 – dancing and chatting
9.15 – start clear up
9.45 / 10.00 – vacate hall

There will be a small travellors fayre provided for dinner, but do please bring your own contribution to the potluck supper. Judging by previous spreads at Thamesreach revels, this is another opportunity to show off your culinery skills and passion for period food!

Timing: We have access to the hall from 10.30am but I suggest not starting until midday. I will endeavour to be onsite earlier to do some setting up and any help gratefully accepted. We need to leave the site no later then 10.30pm but again I suggest we aim to finish earlier so we can clear up and people can get home.

Getting there:
Parking – I will clarify the parking situation

Trains – Ware station is about 5 minute walk from the site and the train runs from Liverpool street (stopping at Hackney Downs & Tottenham Hale) and takes 40 minutes and are every 1/2 hour and a cheap day return is £8.

Food – As with normal revels please free to bring your own food. The site has a kitchen so we should be able to do some prep there and I will make a couple of pottages for people as well, but nothing more.

Booking – As I’ve said this is not “full” event but an indication of numbers would be helpful so please can you let me know if you are intending on coming

Classes – I would like to hold a couple of A&S classes in the afternoon as no fighting is possible on the site, so again please let me know if you are interested in holding a class.

Evening – We will eat early, and endeavour do some dancing as well and finish around 9.30 to pack up.

If the site works well and looks suitable for a larger event we can investigate other option in the town for a 2 site event.

Starting early at 10am, we will be warming up and doing rapier drill followed by sparring – so if it’s your first time, this will be the best point to join. The afternoon is set to see more rapier, with more advanced techniques and an exploration of the instructions in the i33 manuscript.

For non-fencers, there is planned to be a calligraphy session, led by Lady Genevieve, or whichever projects you wish to bring.

The Evening kicks off with a candle-lit Bring Your own food feast, follwoed by an evening of drama, dancing and other entertainment!

For people coming in from London Waterloo, the station is Egham, on the Waterloo to Reading run. The 1009 and 1039 are direct trains, others are available, changing via Staines.

We’re going to be demoing at Lady Jane Holloway Hall, and I have asked for a guide to meet us at the gate to show us where to go. General plan is for a chat/non-fighting stuff/see what they do til about 1pm, when the majority of our fighters will be arriving, some fighting and more demo.
