Revels

Thamesreach Revels have built up a reputation of being welcoming and informative social occasions that are the focus of London activities.

We traditionally provide a themed workshop, with option for other activities at a community hall and outside area in North London.  This is followed by a feast by candlelight (or sunlight in the summer) and entertainments of our own devising, including dancing, singing, play readings and period games.

Children are welcome under parental supervision.

The first visit is free. For regular attendees we ask for £6 towards hall costs, with concessions available. Please sign in!

We have a small supply of spare clothing, which is available if you pre-book and confirm you are coming on the day.   We have several experienced craftspeople who are willing to help you with your first kit projects.

Contact the Chatelaine (castellan@thamesreach.org) for further details regarding any of the above.

Unless otherwise noted, Revels are held at Hargrave Hall, Hargrave Road, Archway, London N19 5SP

Typically start time is 2pm, wrapping up at 9pm.

Fencing revels start earlier, for an extra £5 to cover the extra hours.

The hall is a short walk from the Archway underground station, which is on the Northern line.

2012 Revels are currently booked as follows:
11 February – Thamesreach on tour in Guildford area

We’re testing out a town hall, Tanyard Hall in Gomshall, near Guildford as a venue for south west London get-togethers. Lynette will post directions.

30 Station Road
Gomshall
GUILDFORD
GU5 9LF

The best rail route is Waterloo to Guildford, then Guildford to Gomshall.  It takes about an hour.  The hall is a couple of hundred metres from Gomshall Station.

The plan is to add new escutcheons (shields) to the shire bunting – one Thamesreach and one personal armory escutcheon per person.

Please contact Lord Arnaut, shire pursuivant, for details.

Escutcheons are about 6×8″ or 7×9″ finished size, with designs on both sides, and made of fabric. They can be painted (acrylic paint suggested), embroidered, appliqued, or any combination. Some materials available (white and blue linen, and some green paint, for Thamesreach escutcheons). BYO sewing supplies!

24 March – St. Ethelburga’s Feast and Ball in Thamesreach, so no revel

Sat 21 April, 2-9pm – fencing?

Sat 26 May – uncertain, as this date is proposed for the neighbouring West Dragonshire’s Winchester Pilgrimage

Sat 23 June, 2-9 pm  – no theme as yet
